With Maddalena in Scena the doors of Vanvitelli’s church reopen. Focus on Danzando memoria sul mare, the Hangartfest project for Pesaro 2024

PESARO – For Pesaro 2024 – Italian Capital of Culture, the spotlight will be turned back on former Church of Maddalena which after almost two years of forced closure due to the earthquake, thanks to the programming curated by Hangartfest, returns to being a space dedicated to cultural events, dance and performing arts and to welcoming the public and artists.

Friday 26 April, at 6.00 pm, with Maddalena on stage the reopening is celebrated in the presence of the city authorities, the public and the press with micro dance performances, video dance screenings and musical interventions which will see the artists Raffaele Damen, Donatella Tonini, Valeria Bostrenghi, Paolo Gennari, Jean Gambini, Andrea Baldassarri on stage , Emily Manica, Thomas Bertuccioli, Masako Matsushita and the students of Liceo Coreutico Marconi.

The event is also an opportunity to present some of the activities on the agenda for 2024.
First in chronological order Danzando memoria sul mare, the event organized by Hangartfest for the Pesaro Capitale dossier, whose artistic direction is entrusted to the choreographer and director Stefano Mazzotta and the musical consultancy to the ethnomusicologist Thomas Bertuccioli. The project involves the communities of the provincial territory in a choral process of connection between the musical traditions of the Marche and contemporary dance, through a series of events and dance parties that will take place in the villages of Belforte all’Isauro (19 May), Mondavio ( 25 May), Borgo Pace (1 June) until the big final party in Pesaro on 1 September, to open the XXI edition of Hangartfest. Entrance on the 26th to “Maddalena in Scena” is free upon reservation.

The events continue in the context of the International Day of Dance promoted by UNESCO on Sunday 28th at 10.00 with Moving Trust, a workshop led by Masako Matsushita and based on three-dimensional movement that explores the technical and creative potential of the participants. Membership is free upon reservation.

On the evening of the 28th at 8.30pm, Sex.Exe, the new work by the young choreographer Pablo Ezequiel Rizzo, will be on stage. The performance, which will be followed by a moment of sharing with the public, raises reflections around the theme of the objectification of the female body, through the construction of archetypal images between dance, visual arts, words and technology. Courtesy entrance €3

On Monday 29 April, at 8.30 pm, the meeting Evolutionary dynamics of dance in prison, promoted by Teatro Aenigma and led by Vito Minoia, President of the National Coordination of Theater in Prison, will be an opportunity to talk about the dance activity that is carried out in Italian detention houses. Choreographers Dario La Ferla and Vito Alfarano will speak. Free entry while seats last

The ticket office for the Sex-Exe performance is active at the Maddalena box office on 26 April from 4.00 pm and on 28 April from 7.00 pm. To participate in the opening event Maddalena in Scena and the Moving trust workshop, sign up to the forms on the website www.hangartfest.it
