There City of the Infiorata is in fact ready to welcome theChildren’s Flower Festival 2024 and the 246th edition of the Traditional Infiorata of Genzanotwo events that combine tradition, art and sociality, in a spectacular celebration of beauty and creativity.
The Children’s Flower Festival will take place on 1 and 2 June, while the Traditional Flower Festival, organized since 1778, will be held during the three days of 15-16-17 June. These events, considered of great importance on a religious, historical and folkloristic level, are now known throughout the world, so much so that in 2011 the Genzanese Infiorata received the title of “Heritage of Italy for tradition” by the Ministry of Tourism.
One of the most anticipated moments of these events is undoubtedly the creation of the long artistic carpets via Bruno Buozzi (Children’s Flower Show) e via Italo Belardi, the historic via Livia (traditional flower display), made entirely with colored flower petals. These extraordinary temporary works of art are the result of the expert hands of Master Inflorators and young students from Genzano schools.
To guarantee the success of the two events, which begins with the ritual of peeling, this year too it will obviously be necessary to find a significant quantity of flowers of different colors and types on the market. After having analyzed the supplies used in previous editions and having estimated the overall cost of the supply of flowers, the Municipality of Genzano has started a procedure to identify the economic operator to whom to entrust the task of supplying the flowers necessary for the Infiorata of the Boys 2024 and the Traditional Infiorata.
There Zeno Fiori srl companywith registered office in Torre del Greco (NA), presented an offer on the Electronic Market of Public Administration (MepA), net of VAT, for €79,190.00, for the estimated supply of 419,000 Mediterranean carnations And 8,000 chrysanthemums (colored by infusion). The offer was accepted and the company was commissioned to provide the flowers necessary for the two events.
The exact details on the quantity, color and variety of flowers will be determined only after the exact calculation of the forms presented by the Master Flower Decorators for the Traditional Flower Decoration and by the teachers in charge of the project for the Children’s Flower Decoration. Furthermore, the institutional agreements between the municipal administration and the Church of SS will also be taken into consideration. With the supply of flowers now guaranteed, Genzano di Roma is preparing for one of the most awaited celebrations of the year, a unique experience that combines tradition, art and community spirit, thanks to which the two streets of the famous Genzano Trident will be transformed into an explosion of colors and scents, confirming once again the role of the castle city as a center of culture and creativity, for its famous and wonderful Infiorata.
The 246th edition of the Traditional Infiorata of Genzano
There traditional Infiorata 2024 will be structured in 15 floral paintings (including the painting created by the guest artist, which will occupy tenth place starting from Piazza IV Novembre).
The other 14 floral paintings, measuring 7 meters wide and 11 meters long, will be surrounded by frames and spaces of green plant material and arranged upon decision of the Commission, making sure to alternate the carpets with decorative elements with the figurative paintings .
The carpet will open, as usual, in Piazza IV Novembre, on opening picture of the Traditional Infiorata 2024measuring 7 meters wide and 4 meters long, which must symbolically represent the theme of the Traditional Infiorata 2024 as well as containing the graphic representation of the municipal coat of arms and the Infiorata brand.
The long carpet will instead be closed at the top by floral painting created on the “ladders”measuring 5.5 meters wide and 39 meters long.

The 2024 Infiorata wants to give voice to the stories of those who “dreaming as a single humanity” have undertaken a “path of encounter, dialogue, justice and peace. […] To dream is to live hope”, as Pope Francis reminds us in his encyclical Fratelli Tutti. And hope, the dream, inspires the action of the individual who builds a better future for the community.
“Everyone grows only if dreamed”, are the words given to us by Danilo Dolci, sociologist, poet, educator and Italian non-violence activist with his poetry. One hundred years after his birth we celebrate him in the 246th Flower Festival, and we tell the stories of commitment, sometimes small but fundamental, of those who contributed to creating that collective tomorrow dreamed of for themselves and others.
