TRIESTE – On 25 and 26 May 2024, the highly anticipated appointment with the best realities will be held wine tourism of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Open Cellarsnow in its 31st edition, promises two days of tastings, cultural events and discovery of regional wine excellence.

A weekend dedicated to wine

After the success of theOpen Cellars Preview at Palmanova Village, the event will come to life with the participation of 78 wineries, ready to welcome wine enthusiasts wine tourism coming from all over Italy and abroad. The Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine Tourism Movementled by Elda Felluga, represents around 100 local wineries and is committed to promoting local excellence.

Tastings and sensory experiences

Over the weekend, the wine tourists they will have the opportunity to participate in a series of activities: guided tours of the cellar and vineyards, tastings, sensory workshops, picnics in the vineyard, musical and cultural events. The stories and anecdotes told by the winemakers will enrich the knowledge and culture of wine.

Local products and sustainability

Cantine Aperte is not just wine. Thanks to the collaboration with IOSONOFRIULIVENEZIAGIULIA, the event also celebrates local products and the sustainability of regional businesses. In the participating wineries, the delicious “Naturamente da Latte Friulano” cheeses will be available, guided tastings with food/wine pairing, dinners with the winemaker and dishes from Cantine Aperte. This synergy between wine and local products not only offers a complete overview of the gastronomic excellence of the area, but also supports artisanal production and sustainable practices.

Solidarity and technological innovation

The cup of solidarity it will be an opportunity to contribute to a good cause. It will be possible to purchase the Cantine Aperte kit, including glass and glass holder, at a cost of €10. Part of the proceeds will be donated to charity, supporting social and community projects. Furthermore, thanks to the partnership between the FVG Wine Tourism Movement and the University of Udine, Geotechnology Laboratory, a new technology will be introduced for the analysis of the presence and origin of visitors during the event. This innovative system will allow us to collect useful data to improve the organization and visitor experience in the years to come.

A twelve month long journey

Cantine Aperte 2024 will not be an isolated event, but will kick off a series of initiatives that will last twelve months. Among the scheduled events, we highlight Open Vineyards And Chalices of Stars in Grado, which will be held on 9 and 10 August on the suggestive seafront of the Nazario Sauro dam. These events will offer further opportunities to explore the beauty of Friuli Venezia Giulia, taste excellent wines and participate in unique experiences.

Spirit of Wine and wine satire

The event will coincide with the start of International Spirit of Wine Competition, which rewards satirical cartoons on the theme of wine. This competition, which has reached its 25th edition, represents a meeting point between the art and culture of wine, offering an ironic and creative vision of the wine world. The competition awards will take place in 2025, during First World Festival of (Eno)Satirein conjunction with the celebrations of Nova Gorica – Gorizia, European Capital of Culture 2025. This event will be a unique opportunity to see the works of the best international cartoonists and reflect on the relationship between wine and society.
