Livorno, 24 April 2024 – Without taking anything away from the other valid names present, Luca Salvetti’s main novelty for the Livorno Civica list is Arianna Paoletti.

Arianna introduced herself as an event planner, a job she has carried out with great professionalism for many years.

But, in Livorno Paoletti is also known for the important social role she played by combining disability and sport.

It is thanks to his work, and to the many young people he has been able to involve in the Famiglia Coraggio Association, that today we see important inclusive results in sport.

His sport of choice is definitely basketball. Every year it organizes an important tournament which sees the city’s main players participate – without a flag – in a challenge with a social purpose.

Last year that tournament took the name of Palio del Basket and made it possible to raise important sums for the removal of architectural barriers.

But limiting Arianna Paoletti’s work to basketball tournaments would be very limiting. Over the last twenty years you have fought to erase the stigma of disability in sport and in civil life.

If today the majority of people in Livorno consider it normal to see wheelchair basketball, or more simply believe that a disabled person should have the same opportunities as an able-bodied person, this is also partly due to the work of persuasion and the battles carried out by Arianna Paoletti.
