The protagonist as the partner region of this edition of Macfrut will be Puglia, known for its excellent fruit and vegetable production. The Region will be present at the fair with an important area and during the event it will promote its agri-food products through conferences, events and tastings. The protagonists are certified fruit and vegetable production, primarily PGI table grapes, which accounts for 60% of national production. Together with it also the White Onion of Margherita PGI, Arancia del Gargano PGI, Lenticchia di Altamura PGI, New Potato of Galatina PDO, Artichoke Brindisino PGI and La Bella della Daunia PDO.
In the first three quarters of 2023, Apulian fruit and vegetables confirmed itself as a very active sector on international markets, with 623 million euros in exports, and with important numbers in terms of businesses and employees: 32,552 locations with 61,139 employees (INPS source) . “Being a partner of Macfrut 2024 – commented Donato Pentassuglia, councilor for agriculture of the Puglia Region -: is a source of pride, but above all it is the recognition of the very high quality of our fruit and vegetable production, which reaches the tables of consumers in Italy every day and in the world: they are excellent products, PDO and PGI certified and with high nutritional and nutraceutical values, which derive from typical local cultivars”.
