«The Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation will face this competition with the maximum commitment that has always distinguished it». These are the declarations of the technical director of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation, Riccardo Vernole, on the eve of Madeira 2024 European Paralympic Swimming Championships, now in their seventh edition. There will be over 400 athletes competing at the Complexo de Piscinas Olimpicas do Funchal from 21st to 27th April, of which 32 are Italian.
The athletes of the Paralympic national team return every few years to the Portuguese Archipelago, where in 2021 they won 80 medals, divided into 36 gold, 24 silver and 20 bronze, the prelude to an unforgettable Paralympics in Tokyo.
And the expected protagonists of the event will be the standard bearers of the Polha, again numerous. Alberto Amodeo, Simone Barlaam, Alessia Berra, Federico Cristiani, Federico Morlacchi, Arianna Talamona, Giulia Terzi and Arjola Trimi will take to the pool to win medals and keep the name of the Varese club high.
The opening ceremony of the event will be Sunday 21 April, which will precede the start of the races. Throughout the week the athletes will compete in the pool, before the closing scheduled for Saturday 27 April.
The races will be visible on RaiSport HD, digital terrestrial channels 57 and 58.
