“It was important to bring home points. It was a team victory”

Interviewed by official Sampdoria mediathe technician Andrea Pirlo thus comments on the victory of Sampdoria on the Lecco pitch:

“We knew that it would be a difficult match, on a complicated, small pitch with synthetic grass and that we would face a team that could take advantage of the mental lightness caused by the lack of goals. The most important thing was to bring home the three points and we succeeded.

It was a team victory, of those who played from the start and those who came on and brought the right amount of energy that allowed us to win the match. Benedetti, De Luca and Pedrola entered the field very well, we hope that they can reach the state of form that the many injuries have compromised throughout the season.

The league table is short but we only have to look at ourselves and prepare as best we can for the decisive match on Sunday, hoping to give a good day to the many fans who will come to the stadium and to Eriksson who will be present at the match.”
