PESCARA. Businesses adopt schools and, thanks to the kids, innovative projects are born for Abruzzo. This is the meaning of the European project “AdoptID” which will end today in the Europaurum room of the Aurum. The project, financed by the Erasmus programme, extended to Italy the school-business collaboration format already developed and implemented by the AdoptIDee Foundation in the Netherlands and now implemented in Abruzzo by a European consortium including the AdoptIDee Foundation of the Netherlands, the IDP European company Consultants of Pescara and the Innovalley incubator of Atessa.

The project, explain the promoters, unfolded through a school-business knowledge journey, with visits to companies, meetings and group work among the students. In addition to the educational value of this experience, it is noteworthy that some companies will be inspired by the solutions proposed by the young people for the development of new services and products. For some students, internship offers have already arrived from the companies involved in the project, marked by concreteness. The objective of this initiative is to increase the “soft skills” of the young participants, who collaborate in groups to solve the challenges proposed by local businesses, developing innovative ideas. The aim is thus to complete the students’ technical and theoretical skills, especially in view of their employability in a constantly evolving world. The Italian version of the project was launched in October 2023 and saw the participation of leading Abruzzo companies, each of which “adopted” a school, proposing challenges relating to the circular economy and innovation. In total, 11 classes from four high schools participated for a total of over 120 students, who worked on solving the challenges proposed by the four companies, namely Angelini Technologies – FAMECCANICA and Digitalsoft of Pescara, Stellantis plant of Atessa and Xera of Città Sant’ Angel.

The schools involved and the challenges proposed are:
* Classical High School “G. d’Annunzio” of Pescara – class 4C – with the challenge proposed by Angelini Technologies – Fameccanica SpA “Social sustainability: diversity, equity, inclusion”;
* IIS “L. di Savoia” of Chieti – classes 4A, 4D, 5B, 5C, 5D – with the challenge proposed by Digitalsoft Srl: “Tool for sustainable disassembly: optimization of the bill of materials for electronic recycling”;
* Scientific High School of Applied Sciences of the IIS “A. Volta” of Pescara – classes 4AL and 3AL – with the challenge proposed by Xera Srl: “Technological waste: rebuilding the future with regenerated raw materials”;
* ITSET “F. Palizzi” of Vasto – classes 5A, 5B and 5F – with the challenge proposed by Stellantis NV: “Circular economy, augmented reality, energy, motivation, creativity”.

After the illustration of the solutions proposed by the students, the mayor of Pescara Carlo Masci will deliver the plaques to the students in the presence of the delegated councilor for European Policies Salvatore Di Pino and Fabio Petricca of Abruzzo in Europe.
