Nutrition, experts in comparison – Teramo

TERAMO. The University of Teramo will host for the first time the congress of the Lazio-Abruzzo regional section of Sinu, the Italian human nutrition society, dedicated to human nutrition. This is an event of strong scientific importance. The meeting, entitled “Food, nutrition and health: a complex relationship”, will take place on May 7th from 2pm to 6pm in the graduation hall of the Spaventa campus.
Two teachers from the Teramo university promoted the initiative: Mauro Serafiniprofessor of human nutrition and head of the university’s human nutrition group, e Donato Angelino, associate of human nutrition and advisor to the national board of Sinu. The day’s work will be divided into three sessions: “Food and nutritional status”, “Immunonutrition” and “Nutrition: from molecular aspects to prevention”. Within each block, experts from the Crea-An research center, professors from the universities of Teramo and Chieti-Pescara will delve into specific aspects ranging from food choices to obesity to the relationship between food and particular conditions such as pregnancy, diseases metabolic, dizziness. «The session on immunonutrition is of particular importance», underlines Serafini, «where the preliminary results of the Pnrr “Vitality” project relating to the development of a nutritional inflammatory index aimed at evaluating the anti-inflammatory properties of foods and complex recipes will be presented. In fact, this new index can be used by food companies and restaurateurs to develop anti-inflammatory products and recipes and by nutrition professionals to evaluate the anti-inflammatory characteristics of food regimes and diets.” The congress will be opened by greetings from the rector Dino Mastrocola; of the director of the Department of Biosciences Enrico Dainese; of the president of the Italian Society of Human Nutrition, Anna Tagliabueand the director of Crea-An Emanuele Marconi.(vm)
