MASSA-CARRARA – The “control room” established by the bodies involved and the confederal unions Cgil, Cisl and Uil met yesterday (16 May 2024) to continue taking stock of the interventions envisaged in the reorganization plan of the Tuscany Local Health Authority north west and on the use of the resources available in the territory of Massa-Carrara, with the mayors of Carrara, Massa and Montignoso. The Region, Local Health Authority, Municipalities and trade union organizations participate periodically in the discussion to take stock of the situation of the healthcare buildings present in the territories of Massa, Montignoso and Carrara, in light of the extension granted in recent months by the Fire Brigade until July 2024, following the request made by the ASL.

«Thanks to this extension of time – explains the ASL – all the planned interventions are being carried out in a more gradual manner and with reductions in activity reduced to a minimum. Obviously, until the works in the new structures are completed, the services will continue to be regularly guaranteed in the current delivery locations”.

“As for the new Massa Community House the North West Tuscany Local Health Authority has held further meetings with the company in charge of the works and the final design aspects are being defined. It is therefore confirmed that the start of the construction site is scheduled for July 2024.”

“TO Carrara the interventions (on the mezzanine floor, in the former emergency room and in the new mobile clinics) have been completed and the transfers of healthcare activities are scheduled, starting from 24 May. The most complicated operation, which should be completed on May 28, is that linked to the transfer of the ophthalmology department (with many complex instruments) to building H; then it will be the turn of Diabetology and so only intermediate care will remain to be transferred to the former Monoblock”.

«Finally, regarding the Fossone Rsa, intended to host the intermediate care service, the intervention continues and – to verify the status of the works – inspections will be carried out in the next few days. The control room will meet again on June 5th.”
