CREMONA – An ice cream like this will be difficult to match: an ice cream good for the taste and for the heart. Taste to believe. The guys in prison – that’s what Don calls them Roberto Musa — they produce the ice cream in the laboratory, while young people with fragility will sell it thanks to a cargo bike or a bike with a freezer cart, purchased by the Rotary Club Cremona Po, chaired by Fabio Bosio who comments: «We are happy to have participated in a social inclusion project which, through work and relationships, allows disabled children to find their dimension, not only professionally, but also relationally».
«The project of the Fratelli tutti social cooperative was divided into two steps. The machinery to produce the ice cream and the training course were financed by the Fondazione Città di Cremona with the Barbieri Prize last year – says Don Musa -. Now we are ready and so thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club Cremona Po we will be able to bring artisanal ice cream where it doesn’t exist. All this happens in our inclusive Dolce e salato workshop, where we try to give shape to the ideas of young people who, through work, want to highlight their social dignity and their potential. The pastry and decorated biscuit workshop plus the ice cream corner make the training proposal more open and must range to the extent to which the children seek their path and their aptitudes. Doing to get to know and create relationships: this is the objective of our activity.”
Thanks to the collaboration with the NoSpreco association, the kids will collect the fruit recovered from small and large retailers to give an ecological sense to the use of raw materials and to fight against food waste with their own commitment. «The idea is to bring ice cream where there are no ice cream shops, in the peripheral neighborhoods, but also along the Po river – continues Don Musa -. Some speakers also asked us to bring our ice cream to the children of Grest. The itinerant sales activity has not yet started yet, the cargo bike arrived in recent days. The assisted pedaling allows you to get around the city with ease.”
While speaking, Don Musa does not fail to demonstrate his satisfaction with a project that builds relationships and inclusion through the commitment to doing and the desire to give a little sweetness and freshness to the Cremonese summer. «The trips will be the result of an educational project thanks to which our ‘special ice cream makers’ will acquire new skills and new autonomy thanks to the presence of a professional educator who will find training strategies for graduated coaching and personalized reinforcement», concludes Don Musa.
