Camozzi Running, a thousand for the comprehensive school run

Bergamo. A cheerful and colorful snake made up of children, teenagers, families, four-legged friends, wound its way through the streets of the Monterosso, Conca Fiorita, Valtesse and San Colombano neighborhoods on Wednesday 1 May.

Around a thousand people enthusiastically welcomed the invitation from the Camozzi comprehensive institute to participate in the fourth edition of the Camozzi Running, the non-competitive race dedicated to students from the Angelini and Monterosso nursery schools, the Rosa, Papa Giovanni and Rosmini primary schools and the first degree Camozzi.

Organized by Green School, by the Runners Bergamo, by the parents’ committee of the institute, by the neighborhood network, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bergamo, the non-competitive race involved adults and children along two routes: one of 6 kilometers and the other , of 12, which took the participants up to San Vigilio.

The Runners made themselves available to act as tutors to all those who wanted to tackle the routes running, offering suggestions and advice to improve their performance.

Free departure from 7am to 9am from the Camozzi middle schools: the more sporty ones opted to start the walk early in the morning, but the majority of those registered left at 8.30am, after a greeting from the councilor for Ecology and Public Green of the Municipality of Bergamo Marzia Marchesi and the director of the institute Barbara Mazzoleni.

Along the routes many volunteers worked to provide indications on the directions to follow, others worked at the refreshment stands offering hot tea, water, fruit and sweets. In the Quintino park, water flavored with herbs from the communal gardens awaits the participants.

Once the walk is over, there are moments of play in the middle school park and a treasure hunt for the elementary school children. The awards ceremony will follow.

The race allowed families and children to create and enjoy a moment of sharing and aggregation, enhancing the importance of sport in its various forms. Thanks to the registrations, funds were raised to allow the creation of training proposals to complement the school offerings.
