CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – In another battle that came down to the wire, the Eagles knocked off No. 2 Syracuse in an 11-10 overtime thriller on Thursday evening in Alumni Stadium.

The Eagles finish the regular season at 13-3 and 7-2 in the ACC, and will head into the ACC Championship as the No. 3 seed. BC will face No. 6 seed Duke at 8 pm in the quarterfinals in Charlotte on Wednesday.

Big-time plays were made in overtime on both ends of the field. After Shea Sweet made the biggest save of the game to keep the game tied, Cassidy Weeks came through in the clutch for the game winner off a pinpoint pass from Emma LoPinto.

Weeks was one of three players with four points (3 G, 1 A) and added three draw controls. LoPinto also added four points thanks to a goal and three assists, scoring three of her points in the second half. The junior attacker assisted on the last two goals of the game for the Eagles. Dolce provided six stops in the contest (four in the second half).

It was a back-and-forth affair where neither team led by more than two goals. Rachel Clark scored all three of her goals in the final frame, including the game-tying score with 1:27 left in the contest.

Syracuse held a 5-3 edge at the half before Weeks started a 3-0 run to give BC its first lead of the game in the third quarter. Kayla Martello found the back of the net before Belle Smith capped off the surge. Five ties and six lead changes were exchanged in leading up to the overtime triumph.

The defense turned in a stellar performance with 13 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls. Sydney Scales had four CTs with five ground balls, leading four Eagles with multiple caused turnovers. Hunter Roman recorded a pair of CTs and Lizzie O’Neill tallied two CTs and 3 GBs. Shea Baker also had a pair of caused turnovers as well.

B.Smith corralled a team-high five draw controls with two goals, and Mckenna Davis dished out three assists.
