Officina dell’Arte and Pietà del Pellicano ready for the third edition of the “Warriors Award” scheduled for May 4th at the “Francesco Cilea” theater. This year too, Peppe Piromalli, with the precious collaboration of the lawyer Nino Aloi, has chosen to reward two people who have distinguished themselves and contribute daily to society, healthcare, associations, art, theater and deal with everything and everyone (elderly, defenseless, last and most disadvantaged, children, young people). For this new edition, the artistic director of Oda has chosen to pay homage to Professor Giovanni Corso of Bagnoli Irpino, considered one of the best scholars at an international level in the field of hereditary stomach and breast cancer research, and Filomena Iemma, mother of sixteen-year-old Elisa Claps disappeared from Potenza on 17 September 1993 and whose body was found on 17 March 2010 in the attic of the church of the Santissima Trinità.
“Filomena is a fierce, strong, present woman. She never gave up on the search to find her daughter and despite the silences, the omissions, the misdirections, she went ahead to discover the truth – says Piromalli -. The Guerrieri award is a recognition of the courage of a mother who fought for that denied justice, she went beyond fear. Another battle is carried out every day by the surgeon Corso who, despite the American, Swedish and Portuguese enticements, preferred to stay and work in Italy. Dr. Corso joined the staff of the Breast Cancer Surgery of the European Institute of Oncology, after training at the University of Siena and a period of work overseas, in the United States. Furthermore, he is responsible for a three-year research project on hereditary breast cancer funded by the Ministry of Health for 450 thousand euros: one of the very few selected throughout the national territory. Of both of them, we cannot highlight the spirit of sacrifice and dedication to research: Giovanni for medicine and Filomena for the truth, for her commitment against gender violence and for the law on missing persons”.
“The Guerrieri award instills the message that everyone can contribute to growth and common well-being, everyone in their own small way can make a difference and demonstrate that there is no need for sensational gestures in everyday life – adds lawyer Aloi -. If we want, each of us can be that drop in the ocean needed to change the world.”
After the awards ceremony, hosted by the journalist Eva Giumbo, again at the “Cilea” theatre, the entertaining comedy “A perfect piano” will be staged at 8.45 pm with the actors Alessandro Sparacino who also directs, Peppe Piromalli, Angelo Abela, Evelina Fidone, Donata Minardo and Magda Foti.
