The “Historical Activity” plaques were delivered in the council chamber of the Municipality of Pescara.
Recipients are commercial businesses that have gained long-term experience in the city, contributing to its economic growth.
A consolidated event, organized by the Department of Productive Activities, created to give prestige to companies that have a significant history behind them.
This is, as the Municipality recalls, a recognition which can be accessed through a request foreseen by a public tender, managed at a technical-administrative level by Suap. The mayor Carlo Masci, the president of the city council Marcello Antonelli, the councilor for Productive Activities Alfredo Cremonese, the councilors Maria Luigia Montopolino and Zaira Zamparelli attended and delivered the owners of the activities, 21 in total. In the room, in addition to the owners of the chosen companies, also representatives of the trade associations.
«Today there are about seventy people here», says mayor Masci, «but we must not forget that thousands of people from Pescara have passed through these businesses and hundreds of people have worked. It is with these people, it is thanks to these people that the city has grown over the decades. For this we must be grateful to them and show them, as we are doing today, how fundamental the work they have courageously carried out over all these years has been in a social and economic sense.”
This morning’s ceremony involved commercial firms and companies with a length of time ranging from a minimum of 40 years up to 67. Life stories, of passing the baton between generations, in some these are companies started by grandparents and conducted today by grandchildren. And in fact there were moments of emotion and some tears.
«Today we heard very significant stories and anecdotes», says the president of the city council, Marcello Antonelli, «which made us understand how important the sacrifice and self-sacrifice of these families were in carrying on the commercial businesses. It is clear that they deserve special credit for what they have done for the economic development of Pescara, which exploded in the 70s thanks to trade but then expanded its fields of interest to other sectors. To these people I say thank you.”
The councilor for Commerce, Alfredo Cremonese spoke «of commendable attachment to the city, because the companies that today receive the Historical Activity plaque have certainly not only pursued their own interests but have allowed us all, with their commitment, to be able to benefit today in a place that is envied by us and where the quality of life is high. These entrepreneurs have bet on Pescara and continue to do so every day, in a difficult historical phase. But they never back down.” This morning’s event was presented by Paolo Minnucci.
