“Bormida foams do not depend on the company”

ALEXANDRIA – Il “foam phenomenon in the Bormida river is not attributable to Syensqo”. The director of the plant supported it this morning, Stefano Colosio, who explained how “there was no C6o4 in the exhaust therefore the Bormida foams are already present upstream and then downstream because 3700 cubic meters now flowing into the Bormida do nothing but remove pollutants already present in the river“.

Colosio has categorically excluded responsibility for this to the alarmed reports from citizens last Saturday. For the director of Syensqo, the company’s analyzes in the tanks and then on the discharges would have excluded the plant’s responsibility, a theory confirmed, continued the director, by the believed convergence with the Arpa results although they have not been published, but, he added “our data is already available and the Arpa data that have already been leaked are in agreement“.

Compared to anomalous presence of C6o4 in the plant the company clarified that “after the failure of the E reactor it was deemed right to stop that plant and carry out the necessary investigations to verify the extent of the impact had with respect to the C6o4″whose presence had already been detected before the reactor failure.

Finally, Stefano Colosio downplayed the results of the Arpa data on PFAS in the air. “C6O4 is 10,000 times lower than PM10 levels, 1,000 times lower than benzene. Benzene is a carcinogenic substance while c6o4 is not carcinogenic, it is not mutagenic and has a toxicity similar to that of glycerin used in cosmetics“. Regarding citizens’ fears about the possible health risks still not established in these substances, the director responded by claiming that “since 2007 any compound has undergone a series of very serious studies and therefore the fact that today C6o4 does not have this type of toxicity is already a much broader guarantee than in the past“.
