(Adnkronos) – “I believe there is a great collaboration between public and private at the moment to build the most appropriate rules for using these resources correctly”. These are the words of the Lombard governor, Attilio Fontana, at the opening of the “General States of digital engineering – Building the technological future of Milan and the country”, organized by the Order of Engineers of the Province of Milan at the Milanese Civic Aquarium. “We are in the midst of the digital transition, which every day offers us different and increasingly useful solutions for our future,” continued Fontana. “At the same time there are issues that we need to address promptly, such as the use of artificial intelligence and quantum computers. These are all topics that are already part of reality and this is why regulations are needed, because we cannot afford for these tools with immense capacity to be used indiscriminately.” Fontana continues: “At the same time, the road is very narrow and I also see the risk that regulation could take away a lot of potential from these tools. We have already had the opportunity to discuss with the Authority in times of Covid regarding the issue of data dissemination”, adds the president of the Lombardy Region. “Europe has dictated rules and we must be careful to respect them, so that those who do not respect them cannot have unacceptable advantages”. The governor indicates the fields of use of artificial intelligence and the advantages it can offer: “In healthcare, the management of artificial intelligence allows us to carry out prevention campaigns that are much more useful than treatment, on the most serious pathologies. But we are also experimenters at a national level of telemedicine for remote care”, in a context in which “there is a chronic lack of doctors and nurses”. Fontana closes with two other areas of intervention in which artificial intelligence can represent a great advantage: “Hydrogeological instability and safety”. —[email protected] (Web Info)
