The rite has been renewed and has released all its light. That of faith and friendship, but also of love this year: not surprisingly, the lighting of the flame in the church on the way back to Sacconago it was entrusted to Alessia Vercelloni and Marco Barlocco: they will get married on August 31st and for them today’s light takes on a particular meaning.
The rain did not slow down, if anything it pushed the 69 participants of the historic event from the sanctuary of Santa Maria della Passione in Torricella Verzate to Busto Arsizio. But in reality the energy it moved was something impalpable. The torch is a serious matter for the synagoguesbut precisely because it binds them naturally, it is also made up of smiles, jokes to better deal with fatigue, jokes.
The departure with the shout of “Long live the torch” early this morning, where it all began (READ HERE). Then the journey, the perfect organization, the chat that marks the stages, the snacks, the sensations of a very close-knit group with the historical participants and those who have just arrived or in any case with fewer torches on their shoulders. Alessia and Marco themselves smilingly tell how she, a Milanese, dragged him, a synagogue.
Many anecdotes, the same family. And when you return home, those meters that divide you from the church (with the rain we preferred to aim here), burn quickly. Inside, there is a small crowd applauding, so Don Claudio Caregnato invites them to keep that living flame every day. Sports councilor Maurizio Artusa also takes the floor, recalling how those kilometers faced together unite.
Soon, it will all be over. The torch prayer, the blessing, the last photo on the altar. There are those who will go home, those who are looking forward to a visit to the feast of the Madonna in Campagna, but it is late.
Surely everyone goes home with a special fire and they count the days to meet and relive these moments. When is dinner to look at the images? And by the way, when will we meet to organize the next torchlight? The journey together never ends.
