FRANCESCO BOSI UDC

The city council of Florence has approved a motion to “promote the naming of a place in the city in memory of the figure of Francesco Bosi”, a DC politician who was elected with the Scudocrociato in 1990 to the Regional Council of Tuscany, then senator for the Christian Democratic Center (CCD) elected in 1996 and 2001. He then became undersecretary of Defense in the Berlusconi II government and was reconfirmed in the Berlusconi III government. In 2006 he moved to the Chamber, being elected for the Union of Christian and Center Democrats (UDC) also in 2008. From 2001 to 2011 he was mayor of Rio Marina (Livorno), a municipality on the Island of Elba where he had roots . Bosi had been a manager in the public administration. He was born in Piacenza in 1945 and died in Florence in 2021 at the age of 76. The motion was signed by Jacopo Cellai (Fdi) and Fabio Giorgetti (Pd). “Florence remembers Francesco Bosi – we read in the document -, both as an important figure on the Tuscan political scene, and as a man of institutions, because his long political career began precisely from the City of Florence, and as a great man of sport: that sport which for him had above all training and educational value, with particular attention to children, to their growth and to the quality of the facilities made available for the practice of sports disciplines. In this regard, thanks to his intuition and tenacity, the construction of the sports palace which today bears the name of Nelson Mandela was quickly completed.” This was announced by the Ansa agency.
