A little wine hole, but in Brooklyn: a New York venue is inspired by Florence
Descriptive text here

If a person of Florence he starts walking along Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, in the neighborhood of Brooklyn to New York, may come across something very familiar. A wine hole, perhaps not similar to the famous ones in Florence but very particular, peeks out in the middle of the street. The credit goes to a local, who was enchanted by the ‘wine windows‘ in the city of Giglio enough to propose something similar in the United States too. Is called “Please Tell Me”, is run by the two Americans Eric Griego and Austin Woolridge and is one of the trendy places in that area of the Big Apple. He started the wine hole project a few days ago, it was inaugurated on April 10th and the US media noticed it and gave ample space to this Tuscan idea.

Interviewed in the USA, Griego he said he wanted to pay homage to the Florentine buchette, even if the style of “Please Tell Me” it is a little different from the well-known cracks of Florence. In Brooklyn there is a real window, but the mechanism is the same, very simple: you order the wine, you take it from the ‘wine window’ and then drink it, obviously. The choice of wines is very varied, there are also European and especially Italian specialities. The little hole, or rather, the wine window of the “Please Tell Me” takes place on the patio of the venue, inside.

This curiosity once again demonstrates the great interest in one of the social attractions of Florence, that of little holes. And to think that in 1600 they were very widespread and were used to ensure that when wine was sold there was no contact between seller and buyer, given that these were the years of the plague. Born as a necessity and with a story behind it that was anything but happy, over the centuries they have become something completely different, now they are some of the most ‘Instagrammed’ places in the city and attract many tourists from Italy and abroad, in especially from the United States. And there was no shortage of them controversies by residents. In 2023 the Florentine Buchette have also become the subject of one show.
