In the early hours of yesterday morning, a high-impact joint operation took place in the “Panareo” ROM camp, along the SS 7 Ter in Lecce, where numerous families of predominantly Slavic origin reside.
The activity, planned at the Technical Committee of the Police Commissioner, was carried out by personnel from the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Financial Police and with the support of special departments. The Fire Brigade, operators of the Local Police and the social services of the Municipality of Lecce were also present.
The operation allowed situations of widespread illegality to emerge, including the cultivation and possession of narcotic substances, illegal commercial and construction activities, and the recycling of stolen cars.
As part of the operational activity, 30 cars were inspected, two of which were stopped and one confiscated, and 35 people were identified, two of whom were already subjected to restrictive measures.
A Beretta 92s model pistol, equipped with a full magazine, was found and seized near a house.
3,042 kg of marijuana, 901.75 g, were seized. of hashish and gr. 8.74 of cocaine. The presence of a real plantation of around 500 marijuana plants, planted inside bags of soil, was then noted. Furthermore, a minor, after the pursuit by the police which began in the city center following a rear-end collision and ended at the entrance to the camp, was reported at liberty: resisting a public official, driving without a licence, driving with excessive speed and for not stopping at the stop sign.
The staff of the Local Police and the Technical Office of the Municipality of Lecce then found that 4 buildings did not have the legitimate residential title, while 6 in masonry and sheet metal were totally illegal. The 5 occupants of the illegal buildings will be referred to the AG
Traffic Police personnel identified and seized two sheet metal structures of approximately 25 m2, without authorization, used for the illegal exercise of vehicle repair activities. In the same structure, in addition to the equipment in question, 4 mopeds under repair were found, also seized.
The presence of piles of abandoned waste both inside and outside the camp was then detected, for which the intervention of the competent municipal offices was requested.
