Study conference “Bitonto and Puglia in the first half of the twentieth century”, presentation on Monday – BitontoLive.it

On Monday 22 April, at 11am, in the headquarters of the Metropolitan City (building of the former Province of Bari, Nazario Sauro seafront), the national study conference “Bitonto and Puglia in the first half of the twentieth century”, organized by the Research Center of History and Art-Bitonto, scheduled in Bitonto on 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10 May.

An initiative that is part of the long tradition of the association, aimed at research in the historical and artistic fields and the dissemination of knowledge. The objective will be to explore a crucial period of local and national history and offer a contribution to the in-depth analysis of the events that occurred in the city of Bitonto and Puglia in the first half of the last century. To this end, the choice of the venue for the presentation, a symbol of Apulian architecture in the period considered, is not accidental.

Thanks to the collaboration with institutional bodies and prestigious entities linked to research and the participation of academics and scholars of national and international fame, coming both from Puglia and from other parts of Italy, we will contribute to shedding new light on a historical period full of events and transformations, marked by hopes of peace and prosperity, but also by the devastating consequences of the two world wars. Attention will be placed on all branches of culture and knowledge, in a period characterized by epochal transformations and unprecedented challenges. Starting from historical contexts and historiographical structures up to literary, artistic and musical expressions, without neglecting anthropological, social, economic and scientific issues, the conference will offer four intense days dedicated to the in-depth analysis of the first half of the twentieth century, a century that continues to exert a significant influence on our present, permeated by its suggestions and consequences.
