“After five years of opposition we are running to govern the city”, this is the message with which the current Lega council group in Cesena called the press conference yesterday to take stock of the mandate just concluded and claim the role of opposition. They are the only ones from the center-right coalition that supports Marco Casali present in the Council.
The list, explains the secretary of the Romagna League and deputy Jacopo Morrone, will be presented only after it has been officially deposited (therefore after May 11th). But in the meantime he praises a “close-knit team” which alongside the elected councilors saw a group of activists who supported them in the commissions. This is the basis from which to start for the elections of 8 and 9 June. A team that is coming together with the awareness that this time it will most likely be FdI that will attract most of the consensus on the right: «Many voters vote for the center-right without much distinction between the parties». In 2019, the League benefited from this mechanism: «When we were the party with the most votes, with a great expenditure of energy we brought Cesena to the runoff. I took on the responsibility of focusing on Zattini and we will probably win again in the first round in Forlì. Casali is the candidate identified by Buonguerrieri and Bignami and we support him with conviction. The hope is that Cesena will continue to make progress and that the run-off will lead to a victory.”
«We have guaranteed the presence of the center-right in all sessions of the city council and council commissions», points out Fabio Biguzzi, deputy group leader in the city council, councilor of the Union and municipal secretary of the League. «We have presented over 170 questions and interpellations, presented 21 motions and agendas, over 30 requests for access to documents. We worked a lot and we believe we did it to the best of our ability”, he adds. For Biguzzi the Council and the majority «suffer from announcements», for the councilor and provincial secretary Enrico Sirotti Gaudenzi in these five years «has not done anything», he defines it as a Council «a lot of propaganda, little substance». He quotes the solidarity emporium: “If it was a question of making four shelves at the fruit and vegetable market they could have done them in 2019 too.” He reiterates the battle against the PUMS, the plan for sustainable mobility, «which has very little that is sustainable because it does not consider mobility as a whole and in that document the intention to make Cesena a city 30 is written in black and white, even if they now deny.” The housing emergency, continues Enrico Sirotti Gaudenzi, «is the greatest failure of the left. Novello has now disappeared from the left’s radar and in the meantime they are trying to pass the problem off to private individuals. As is typical of the left cthey try to impose their will on private property to try to abolish it». The group leader Antonella Celletti denounces the closure of the Democratic Party also on issues such as animal protection. Wrong waste management policies, “underestimated” the safety problem. According to the League, little or nothing has been done for trade and tourism.
On the verge Morrone accuses mayor Enzo Lattuca and the majority not to dialogue with neighboring municipalities, in particular with Forlì towards which they would have “ideological hatred” which would also lead them to ignore the opportunities that could arise from Forlì airport. The closure to dialogue, even towards the opposition, is the main characteristic of Lattuca according to Morrone: «he should be everyone’s mayor instead in these 5 years he has only represented the extreme left». «He also proved this on April 25th with a divisive speech, an electoral rally at the limits of legality. When they shot the video for me I was shocked but not surprised. He probably does it because he likes having the spotlight on him. We had already seen him during the flood, while I was answering calls from the municipalities in the province, he was always on TV and nowhere to be found in the area.”
