VETRALLA – The base is in Vetralla but the city of Viterbo will also be interested. This is the first gathering of its kind, the one dedicated to “cars in uniform” and will be held from 19 to 21 April, organized by the Vetralla Tourist Office

The various initiatives will be punctuated by a series of detailed appointments, with the overnight custody of the cars at the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Viterbo.

“It is an event that we have been thinking about for some time, and step by step we have built it up to its realization – says Roberto Spolverini di Vetralla, one of the two organizers who, together with Giovanni Conti di Vitorchiano, conceived the whole thing – indeed we grasp the This is an opportunity to thank the municipal administration of Vetralla and the Pro Loco who helped and supported us in the planning.

I am a retired policeman – he continues – and the passion for the weapon has always been with me. In Tre Croci, where I live, I have set up a permanent exhibition where you can find uniforms, documents, posters, photos, ornaments and everything I managed to recover from the Benemerita, every possible heirloom. A few months ago, together with Giovanni Conti we thought it would be nice to organize a sort of gathering of historic cars of the various uniforms.”

So these are not local cars but from all over Italy: “The cars come from Puglia, from Viterbo, there will also be Vvff cars, civilian Alfa Romeos and civettes”. Is a gathering held for the first time in the province of Viterbo? “The base will be the territory of Vetralla, at a hotel in the area, then there will be static exhibitions in Viterbo and also at Cura di Vetralla in Piazzale Bellucci in Tre Croci and in Vetralla itself. We will use restaurants from Vetralla but also from Viterbo. A way to make our beautiful city known – concludes Roberto Spolverini – the three days will in fact end with a narrated walk inside the historic center of Vetralla, near the permanent open-air gallery, with all the participants, around twenty, and with a final lunch”.

From the intentions and enthusiasm of the two creators, it seems clear that this will only be the first manifestation of a long series.
