Abstract submission by May 30, 2024
There call launched yesterday by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Mic collects the fundamental intention of extending the investigation already present on the platform – Census of Italian architecture from 1945 to today – not only to the works created on Italian territory by architects but also to figures trained in Italy and operating abroad, to professionals engaged in similar disciplines such asurban planningThe designthe project of interiorthe project of ephemeral devices, the management of institutionsthe magazine editing they field studies.
The survey aims to promote the publication of a volume that collects in a broad sense the contribution of women at the architectural story of the 20th century even through a conference which will take place in spring 2025. The theme, which has been the protagonist of recent years numerous and fundamental studies, exhibitions and in-depth studies, both at level national and international, is taken up here in a structured and broader manner with the important aim of also analyze the state of the art of the various contributions.
Some of the areas identified for the call concern: Training and teaching in Italian architecture schools – Publishing and promotion (editorial of magazines and creation of exhibitions) – International activity – City, landscape, cultural heritage – Design – Exercise of the profession – Design and applied arts and we hope for much more, because the contribution of women to architecture is complex and stratified matter which deserves a subtle and at the same time capillary analysis: often kept away from construction sites, from university careers, from the production of architecture with a capital L, women have found a thousand other streams where their art can flow. And all this deserves attention.
