van stuck on tracks, collision with a train. No one injured

A moment of apprehension was experienced this morning in the Caserta area, when a van remained stuck between the bars of the level crossing, with the driver deciding to park the vehicle parallel to the tracks in the hope of leaving room for the arriving regional train. Unfortunately, the convoy ended up hitting the van sideways, but fortunately the accident caused no injuries and the damage to the two vehicles was limited.

The episode took place shortly before 8 in the morning between the Santa Maria Capua Vetere and Caserta stations, along the Cassino – Caserta railway line. Despite the lack of injuries, train traffic slowed down, causing inconvenience for commuters.

At the moment, interventions are underway by the technicians of the Italian Railway Network (RFI) and the police to restore the regular circulation of trains. However, passengers should expect delays, route changes and cancellations on High Speed, Intercity and Regional trains. To make travel easier, a replacement bus service is active between the Caserta and Capua stations.
