CORDENONS – A sudden illness during a mountain bike ride, at the end of a day’s work. Daniele Bergamo, 57 years old, from Cordenonsit was the day before last night rescued on the street by a couple who gave him cardiac massage until the ambulance arrives.

What happened

It was around 8pm, the emergency vehicle left via Seduzza with a siren towards the Pordenone hospital. It seemed that the crisis was over, as had already happened in the past, but shortly after arriving at the emergency room of Santa Maria della Misericordia his heart stopped leaving in pain his wife Mirna, his children Christopher and Jessica, and his seven-year-old granddaughter who was “his jewel”. The other evening a Flying Squad patrol also intervened in via Seduzza for the investigations required in these cases. The possibility of a road accident or any third party liability has been excluded. The death was attributed to a probable heart problema circumstance for which it will not be necessary to have further investigations by the judicial authority.

The memory

Bergamo, originally from Cordenons, was a sales agent involved in the furniture sector. His house on Pasch Street was also his office. He worked mainly abroad. With one click he reached customers all over the world, from China to India, from Russia to Africa. «He was the man of complicated challenges – his daughter Jessica remembers him fondly – He was busy with a million things, he never stopped». He remembers a father who was always ready to joke in any situation, capable of playing down the most difficult moments and finding the right words even in the most critical moments. He was an athlete who loved being outdoors, he loved motorbikes, cycling and taking long walks. In the past he had been part of the Pordenone ski club, with which he was very active. He skied very well and had also served as a rescue volunteer on the slopes of the Piancavallo ski resorts.

The condolence

Daniele Bergamo was also politically involved, he had many ideas and he would have liked to work for his community. «He was part of our movement – the mayor Andrea Delle Vedove remembers it – he was a supporter of the League, he participated in our meetings and was always proactive. He was preparing to make the request to become involved as a militant. We are deeply sorry, we last saw each other last month. He had a great civic sense and was ready to make himself available to the community.” The mayor, very saddened, expresses his condolences and closeness to the Bergamo family together with the sectional secretary Claudio Pasqualini, the councilors and the entire section of the League.
The date of the funeral will be communicated by the family in the next few days.
