“Ecology Today? But when? Maybe tomorrow”. Indeed, for many, not even tomorrow. There are those who use irony, and those who are very angry. Ecologia Oggi’s adventure in Reggio Calabria did not begin well. On Friday 12 April, five days ago, the official handover took place from the old company (Teknoservice) to the new one, the company managed by the President of Cosenza Eugenio Guarascio. Some time ago Ecologia Oggi presented and won the appeal against the Turin company and the Reggio Municipality regarding the tender award. Having obtained what he was entitled to, after the entire judicial process, he asked for more than one extension to be able to start. Friday started, but slowly.
In various areas of the city, in fact, separate waste collection did not occur continuously. Despite the many illegal macro- and micro-landfills present in Reggio, and despite some setbacks, it must be admitted that the collection with Teknoservice worked. For days, however, since the change of company took place, a lot of citizens have complained about delays, absences and failure to collect. A service that is intermittent or in some cases non-existent. Emails and phone calls have arrived in the editorial office, the same can be said on social media, invaded by images of envelopes hanging and waiting to be collected.
The citizen of Reggio Calabria, rightly, does not justify the change of society and the definition of a usually normal organization in such cases. And he doesn’t do it, first of all, because he tried to cushion as little as possible – from a logistical point of view – the transition to a new company, which is only in the name and the means used (or at least it should be so). However, he doesn’t do it, above all, because he feels “drowned” by the high amounts on the card Tariwhich are instead requested punctually (today the announcement of an extraordinary contribution, but only for categories in difficulty). For what they pay, people rightly want impeccable service. And then he gets angry. There were also those who complained about the lack of response to the telephone to ask about this situation.
