The CGIL Emilia Romagna intervenes harshly on the amendment to article 44 of the bill for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, with which the government established that the Regions can make use of the PNRR funds intended for Healthcare to organize the services of the consultants being able to “take advantage of , without new or greater burdens on public finances, including the involvement of Third Sector entities who have qualified experience in supporting maternity”.

“Thus, despite only a handful of days ago the European Parliament approved a non-binding resolution to include abortion among the fundamental rights of the EU, asking to ban funding for “anti-gender and anti-choice groups” , now the action of the so-called pro-life movements in the counseling centers can be directly financed with the resources of the PNRR” comment from the union.

“We are already in a national context in which 7 out of 10 doctors are objectors and we have been subjected to these attacks for years now. Furthermore, in our country there are too few family counseling centers compared to the needs of the population (1 clinic for every 35,000 inhabitants although they are recommended to be 1 for every 20,000) and often, within them, it is even difficult to find gynecologists and obstetrician staff – they continue by CGIL Emilia Romagna – . An already problematic scenario which could suffer yet another shock following thepossible entry into force of the government amendmentwhich however is not the first case in which the green light has been given to the allocation of public funds to the coffers of “pro-life” associations”

“The Emilia Romagna Region has structured a network of qualified consultants, also investing more (its own) resources than those allocated at the national level to improve its services – conclude the regional union -. Because of this we ask the Region not to follow up on this wrong decision which would be absolutely antithetical to the approach it has taken on the topic of women’s self-determination and, more generally, on gender policies”.
