Sunday 1st May concert in Piazza Chanoux, in Aosta

The Liquor Merchants on the stage of the ‘concertone’ preceded by performances by Sfom and the Sarayeye group

The Municipality of Aosta is re-proposing the concert of May 1st, presented today at the press conference. Given the occasion, Labor Day, the Mercanti di Liquore will be performing in Piazza Chanoux, a Lombard group that returned to activity in 2021 with the project “Mercanti di Liquore e I Figli Storti” in favor of Emergency for the fight against Covid-19 throughout Italy.

The group, with its historic leader Lorenzo Monguzzi, had already been in Valle d’Aosta for the last time on the occasion of AostaClassica in 2007 with Marco Paolini and will propose hits of the past and new compositions in the classic style that combines folk, rock and songwriting.

Before the “Liquor Merchants” the scene will be occupied by a musical project born as part of the “Cambio musica” festival of the Sfom (School of musical training and orientation of the Maria Ida Viglino Foundation for musical culture). The Jazz Sfom Orchestra and the music and dance group Sarayeye, created by the dancer and choreographer Francesca Spezzani, will perform together on the stage. With them there will be Luca Brandoli on singing and percussion, who created the “Buscando Cuba” project brought to the stage in Aosta.

The free concert on May 1st will begin at 6.30 pm and to “warm up” the city in the afternoon, starting from 5.30 pm, the historic center will be crossed by two street bands: the kick-off will start from Piazza Arco d’Augusto the Tuscan formation The Fantomatik Orchestra, while the Sfom Street Band will start from Piazza della Repubblica. Both groups will converge in music in Chanoux square, dragging citizens and visitors with their notes towards the concert area where they will give life to a short joint performance.

In case of bad weather, the street bands will perform under the porticoes of Piazza Chanoux without an itinerant route, while the concert will be held in the renovated Giacosa Theatre, again with free admission while seats last.
