Run4Hope 2024, Barletta present at the solidarity relay

This year, the Run4Hope, a national solidarity running relay, reaches its fourth edition, divided into twenty regional relays, implemented simultaneously in all regions from 13 to 21 April 2024.

The objective is to support the AIL – Italian Association against leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, to raise new funds for research and treatment of haematological diseases. The initiative benefits from the patronage of, among many bodies, CONI, Fidal, the Italian Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Carabinieri, Fiamme Oro, Fiamme Azzurre, Fiamme Gialle.

Also this year the support from the local sports associations could not be missing, therefore the ASD Barletta Sportiva supports the fundraising in this tour of Italy together with the 82nd Turin Infantry Regiment and AIL BAT.

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday 17 April at 9:00 am, the Puglia Solidarity Relay will stop in Barletta, Lungomare Pietro Mennea, through the “Testimone” carried by the athletes of the ASD Margherita of Savoia Runners and delivered into the hands of the members of the ASD Barletta Sportiva .

In the afternoon at 3.00 pm the relay will start again from the Castello Svevo of Barletta, to be delivered into the hands of the ASD Trani Marathon and its partners, in Trani, in Piazza Cattedrale.

Particularly evocative and exciting will be the departure ceremony, with the twinning of the 82nd Turin Infantry Regiment of Barletta, in the presence of the Sports Councilor Marcello Degennaro, Avv. Carmela Peschechera, as vice president of AIL Barletta.

Stefano Mei, FIDAL President, underlined how the great successes of the Italian Athletics team in recent years combined with the primary role of running in federal life “mean that three hundred affiliates, out of four hundred sports associations involved, join Run4Hope with thousands of our members and I thank our local committees who support the project throughout Italy.”

As part of Run4Hope, Barletta is involved in one of the three Apulian routes:

  • Stage 1: Foggia – S. Ferdinando (Sat 13-Sun 14 April)
