“RIGHT TO STUDY. ONE WEIGHT, ONE MEASURE”. IN PADUA THE NATIONAL DAYS OF THE RIGHT TO UNIVERSITY EDUCATION DEDICATED THIS YEAR TO GENDER EQUALITY

Padua, 16 April 2024
“Gender equality as a fundamental prerequisite for the Right to University Education means underlining what our world tries to do every day: create equal conditions of access to studies without any distinction other than that of merit.” The speaker is Alessandro Ciro Sciretti, president of the National Association of Organizations for the Right to University Education (ANDISU) who, in collaboration with ESU Padova, organized the day which is followed simultaneously throughout Italy where organized initiatives on the topic are taking place by bodies for the right to university study.
Sciretti therefore wanted to underline “the highly symbolic choice of Padua. We strongly believe in the value of services to students – he concluded – as a strategic tool for the development of our economy and in the impact that this constitutionally recognized right has on the possibility of every individual to self-determine their own future.”

The presence of Gino Cecchettin, author of the book “Dear Giulia. What I learned from my daughter”, brought the initiative back to current events. The heartfelt testimony of Giulia’s father whose death – last November – moved the whole country: “we dream of a world without any gender violence and for this we still need to work hard” as Gino Cecchettin remarked, among other things, during his applauded speech.

Welcoming those present at the Casa della Carità in via San Francesco, in Padua, was the president of Esu Padova, Giuseppe Maschera, who highlighted “the duty to ensure gender equality and to prepare the necessary tools to be considered as bodies for the right to education is a safe point of reference for students”.
