The exploits of the burglar who burgled Giovanni Girardini’s house have been immortalized and now on social media – La Prima Linea

From the Velletri prison where he has been locked up for several days now, he has decided to make use of the right not to answer the questions of the investigating judge and the investigators. Christian Mecarelli, a 26-year-old Roman arrested at the end of almost eight months of intense investigations conducted by the Aosta Flying Squad by Jenny Vecchiato and coordinated by prosecutor Francesco Pizzato.

As anticipated by Laprimalinea.it last week, according to police investigators, Mecarelli is the author of the theft of 100,000 worth of loot (in quickly-receivable valuables) carried out at the home of the well-known Aosta politician and entrepreneur Giovanni Girardini and from 2021 to 2022 , for almost two years, he would have been at the head of the so-called ‘hotel gang’ which raged undisturbed from Courmayeur to Champoluc: over fifteen thefts and attempted thefts, a total loot of several thousand euros without ever being discovered. A job for professionals, undoubtedly, which has taken away the sleep of many hotel managers and owners. The suspect moved with uncommon ease and unscrupulousness, apparently convinced that he would remain unpunished.

And among the traces left behind along his path – on which the Mobile investigators patiently worked, also interfacing profitably with the carabinieri, who had identified and reported Mecarelli after a theft in Courmayeur (and several other reports from hoteliers who were victims of the ‘gang’ were presented in Aosta Valley Army stations) – there is one that is particularly ‘descriptive’ of his modus operandi.

In fact, the images were downloaded on the social page (published in this article) of a private surveillance camera which immortalize Christian Mecarelli while he photographs some locks in a Roman condominium in different ways.

Videos and evident frames of his gestures and his face, which alarmed the equipped condominium owners, who by publishing them and launching the alert also attached a link where it is indicated that it is possible to produce faithful 3D copies of keys (to open safes, apartments, suitcases, etc.) simply by taking a photo of the keyhole to be broken into. It is more or less easy to obtain reproductions of keys by taking photographs of the keys themselves and then “recreating” them with 3D printers and it is possible to duplicate a key, for a few euros, even without having a 3D printer using specific online services or apps.

Social material which is now firmly in the hands of the investigators of the Aosta Flying Squad and which adds to a series of evidentiary elements deemed “fundamental” by the police. Mecarelli is assisted by the Aosta lawyer Eleonora Bono. For now he defends himself by choosing not to speak. For him, however, these rather eloquent images speak.
