The emergency call was issued from Genoa in the late afternoon of April 4th to all the Piedmont police forces.

Only late in the evening, however, after the person had reactivated the cell phone by calling a friend and reporting that he wanted to end it all, was the Turin Traffic Police Operations Center able to trace the cell phone on the outskirts of Alessandria, near Cantalupo .

All the patrols of the Alessandria Traffic Police Section on duty are immediately sent to the area to search for the car in which the person was last seen.

The widespread knowledge of the area by the operators who traveled along all the asphalted and dirt roads, even isolated ones, made it possible to find the car on a local road near the level crossing of the SP 244, in a designated area. in an industrial area.

The person, found sitting inside the stopped car with the engine running, as the officers approached, shouted at them several times not to come closer and appeared in a clear state of confusion, agitated and highly worried due to personal problems.

The subject, alternating moments of calm and despondency with extreme anger against everyone, on several occasions attempted to head towards the tracks in order to put an end to his existence.

The road workers, adopting an approach aimed at dialogue and understanding, after a few hours, definitively managed to make him give up, and above all to convince him to seek assistance from healthcare personnel.
