A Torres perky and proactive as long as they supported the legs of those who had less space during the season. These are the answers I received from Alfonso Greek from the experimental rossoblù team tested in the last outing of the season before the playoffs away against Pineto. The 2-2immediately coming back from Sassari, doesn’t count that much in terms of the standings, with Torres already certain of second place and the quarter-finals in the playoffs after the draw against Cesena a week ago, but it was useful to test some pieces used less during this long and intense Serie C championship.
Prodigal son Kujabi
In Pineto Greco he had pleasant returns and welcome confirmations. One above all Kalifa Kujabi. The former Gambian Muravera, on loan in Sardinia from Frosinone, has seemed like a real object of mystery for much of this season. He arrived in the summer as yet another shot from a midline full of big names, from Giorico to Mastinu, the class of 2000 struggled to carve out his own space also due to a module in which his importance initially seemed marginal. Soon, thanks also to some subpar performances, he ended up behind Greco in the hierarchies, so much so that in January everything seemed set for his return to his base in Ciociaria. Then the injury to the medial collateral in the last training session before saying goodbye, hence the decision to stay to be treated in Sassari. Weeks of solo rehabilitation followed and then, as if by magic, hers returned star near the Vanni Sanna. Some injuries and the normal rotations at the end of the season put him back to center of the project of a Greek who respects him and knows him well, having already always had him in the rossoblù in Serie D. At the moment Kujabi seems to be the player best on the ball among those of Torres and the hope of the Sassari team is that the flexible Gambian repeats the impact he had in the LND playoff: assist against Arzachena in the semi-final, goal in the final against Afragolese.
Sanat, the game-breaker
Against Pineto, at times, even the truth was seen again Sanat. Quality, dribbling and ability to break opposing defenses with rapid ball-and-chain insertions. The elf of the rossoblù attack returned to scoring, his first goal in this championship, after having been without a goal since the Coppa Italia derby won against Olbia in October (1-0). Sanat still doesn’t have the best condition, given the many injuries had in the last period. But Greco seems to have found him again at least from a mental point of view and the goal, which is very nice to see, against Pineto will help him in terms of confidence and awareness. He too, like Kujabi, has already been decisive in the playoffs, again in D, with the Lentigion. Goal in the semi-final (2-1 against Correggese) and assist in the final (2-0 against Ravenna) in 2022. As a weapon to be used for the last 15′ Sanat can be an important addition for this Torres as the elimination clashes will begin for promotion to Serie B.
The others
From Fabriani to Siniegapassing through Rose, the experimental defense seen with Pineto also gave good indications. The expert Rosi, especially in the second half, seemed on the right path towards a decent condition, with his contribution which will also and above all be mental in the rossoblù playoffs. Fabriani did well, appearing to be fully recovered, and now managing the two phases with personality. Still to be registered Goglinowhich however has an unquestionable ball-and-chain quality, and Nunziatini. With the latter we can see that he has potential and always makes himself available, but he is still looking for his right size within this squad.
Playoff preparation
Unplugged for a few well-deserved days Relax Torres will meet in Sassari to prepare the mini-prep in view of playoffs. The club has chosen not to go outside the island for a training camp, so as not to tire the group too much mentally and to keep the players close to the warmth of the city and their families. Also considering the fact that the appeal of Taranto it could even postpone the start of the playoffs themselves by a week or two. There will be no shortage of friendlies, probably with the Serie D teams not having to extend the regular season. In this sense there is the Cos by Francesco Loi and there could also be theUri by Massimiliano Paba, should the Giallorossi manage to achieve direct salvation without going through the playouts. Beyond the sessions and tests, however, the important thing for Greco’s team will be to maintain it spirit jaunty shown in the first part of the season lived as leaders and vice-leaders in Group B. The pressure will increase and the expectations of the place will be maximum, but only by thinking of being the outsider who has everything to gain and nothing to lose will Torres be able to play as in the best tests of this record-breaking year.
