Love, intrigue and a pinch of magic, with a fast-paced comic rhythm: these are the ingredients of “The Curse of Yasmine” which will feature the two Sicilian comedians Matranga and Minafò on stage next Sunday 21 April at 6pm in the Impero theater in Marsala . The show is included in the program of the XVI theater review “Lo Stagnone – scenes of a show” – organized by the “Sipario” theater company chaired by Vito Scarpitta, with the patronage and participation of the Municipality of Marsala.

“Take a clumsy thief who spends a night full of curses at the museum, put him on a stage together with a lying playboy and the cocktail is served,” explain the organizers. “The curse of Yasmine” is a show produced by Sicilia Social Star, directed by Maurizio Bologna, written together with Gianpiero Pumo, where, moreover, the entertainment is ensured by the comedy by Matranga and Minafò “which, according to their style, will surprise thanks to a surprising ending,” they anticipate. On stage with the experienced comic duo there will also be Dalila Pace, Loredana Scalia FanPage, Patrizia Franco, Claudione Di Giovanni and Francesca Caracci. “Amunì, let’s all go back to the theater to laugh” declared the two Palermo actors.

It is a brilliant comedy, the first brought to the theater by Matranga and Minafò, which starts from the arrival in the city of the statue of Yasmine, an Egyptian divinity which will be kept inside the History Museum. “A legend hovers around her – announce Matranga and Minfafò – that would see her at the center of a curse. Will it be true? The protagonists will find out: a clumsy thief, a lying playboy and their respective wives. Also completing this quartet is a bizarre lover and an unconventional caretaker.”

The event will conclude with the staging, in a single evening, of three works by Luigi Pirandello. The appointment is for Saturday 4 May at 9.30 pm with Corrado Tedeschi and Vito Scarpitta who will perform: “La Morsa”, “La patente” and “The man with the flower in his mouth”. Also on stage: Giuseppe Todaro, Davide Maltese, Francesco Di Bernardo, Enza Giacalone, Serena Tumbarello and Max Vacante.

“La Morsa” deals with the “classic triangle of wife, lover and husband – explains director Vito Scarpitta –. The protagonist of the love affair is Giulia, a sincere and passionate woman, who finds herself at the epilogue of her relationship with her lover Antonio. Andrea, her older husband, has discovered the two lovers and wants to take revenge on both of them by squeezing Giulia in a grip of accusations, but Giulia also lacks the support of her lover Antonio who cowardly abandons her.” In “La Patente” – continues Scarpitta – “the protagonist of the tragicomic story is Rosario Chiarchiaro, an employee of the pawn shop, who according to people’s rumors is a jettator who finds himself, despite himself, excluded from society. Judge Andrea does not believe in jettatura, but finds himself having to bear in mind that Chiarchiaro has also lost his job due to the gossip, he is unable to marry his daughters because of this reputation and therefore the whole family is at risk. The situation is truly absurd and gets even worse when Chiarchiaro, summoned to court, shows up dressed as a jinx and forcefully calls for a trial, asking for an official jinx’s license complete with stamp to make it his profession. Finally, “In The Man with the Flower in His Mouth whose protagonist is Corrado Tedeschi – he adds – it highlights how man tries to face death. He highlights how death is predominant, he manages to change anything, even the personal vision of the world. In the face of death, even small things begin to have immense importance.”
