Santanza, unsafe building: new intervention by the firefighters – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. The conditions of an old building that has been unsafe since the 2009 earthquake in via San Gabriele dell’Addolorata, a crossroads between via Aldo Moro and viale della Croce Rossa, are once again causing concern.
The unsafe building which, in recent months, had forced the Municipality to close the road, had the beginning of static instability yesterday morning.
The firefighters, who arrived to check the structure, recorded that the old building has now partially imploded towards the inside. At the moment, the road is open to traffic, but this is the third time that the roadside buildings have caused problems.
Twice, the first in 2019, the second a few weeks ago, it was necessary to close the road to traffic.
In 2019, in particular, the closure continued for a few months due to a chimney that had been damaged by the earthquake.
A few weeks ago, when returning to work on Monday morning, the owners of businesses in the area found barriers that prevented the passage of customers and residents.
In this case, another building located right on the side of the road was affected by the initial collapse, the one on which firefighters’ tapes reappeared yesterday. (rp)
