Cesena is preparing to welcome the finals of the Italian Sitting Volleyball Promotional Championship – Rotary Cup with great enthusiasm: the paralympic event will be held on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April at the Cesena Exhibition Center, Piazzale E. Vannoni entrance.

An event that will involve 450 athletes representing the 23 teams that have been protagonists of the group stage in recent months, divided into four pools: north-east, north-west, central and south pools. The top three teams in each pool qualified for the Gold Finals, the remaining teams qualified for the Silver Finals.

Cesena will therefore become the capital of Italian promotional Sitting Volleyball, with six playing fields set up specifically for the occasion. The organization and planning of this high-level weekend is entrusted to the Fipav Emilia Romagna Regional Committee, with the precious support of the Italian Volleyball Federation and Rotary.
Without neglecting the extraordinary commitment of multiple volunteers, including a team from the Italian Red Cross from the Forlimpopoli-Bertinoro department and from Aido Savio-Rubicone, together with the Cesena Volley Club, home club of the finals, and the Fipav Romagna Uno Territorial Committee.

A fundamental element of this event is social inclusion and competitive spirit, promoted also thanks to the active participation of the students of the IPS Cesena Higher Institute who were involved in the project, helping to spread the values ​​of Paralympic sport as well as social integration. Precisely for this reason, the Municipality of Cesena has granted its patronage to this event, recognizing its values ​​and the message it spreads.

Coach Monica Tartaglione’s Sitting Volley Club Cesena placed second in the Centro pool, qualifying as a Gold finalist, a result achieved already a month ago, when there was still a match to play. The Sitting sector within the Volley Club has existed for ten years: it can be said that Cesena has taken on the role of the pioneer of the discipline, firmly believing in sport for all. «Being able to compete for the title of Gold Rotary Cup Champions – comments Tartaglione – means not only being among the twelve strongest teams in Italy for this season too, but also that we enjoy a solid reputation in the sector and I can only be proud of that. . The team is ready to face these two days of racing in the best possible way, keeping the home flag high.”

It starts on Saturday from 2.30 pm and continues until Sunday.
