Sgarbi scores, Benevento doesn’t: Avellino celebrates at Partenio

Pazienza wins it with substitutions. The Partenio derby belongs to the Wolves. An intense match was decided by a great right-footed shot from Sgarbi, kept on the bench but then decisive, among other things with an assist from another substitute, the green and white captain Tito.

The choices. Auteri returns to the bench Lanini, his most prolific striker but the center forward is once again the baby Perlingieri, supported by Ciciretti with Pinato behind them. Simonetti returns but his place is on the right in place of the injured Improta. And a breakthrough from Starita creates the first real scoring opportunity of the match: Perlingieri kicks powerfully but Ghidotti is reactive. Shortly afterwards Ferrante takes over from Perlingieri. On the other hand, Pazienza plays the Sgarbi and Ricciardi cards. The most offensive version of the Wolves immediately brings danger with a right-footed shot from Armellino which Paleari is careful to avoid. But it is the two newcomers who bring Avellino one step away from the lead: Sgarbi pots in for Ricciardi but Paleari is prodigious when coming out. In the 78th minute it was the Strega who despaired over Pinato’s mistake who, well served by Simonetti, shot on goal. To pass, then, is Avellino. Tito finds Sgarbi to the limit: the right-footed shot of the green-and-white eleven is tense and angled, uncatchable for Paleari. Benevento tries to react but the Irpinia defense holds up without any worries. And indeed Marconi wasted the ball at two-nil. Then a madness by Tito gives the Giallorossi a counterattack right at the end but Simonetti’s right-footed shot doesn’t scare Ghidotti. It ends in celebration, therefore, for Avellino who repeats the success of the first leg and effectively secures second place. Benevento only has to watch their backs from Casertana and Taranto because third place is now their only goal of the season.
