The protocol for the “Renaissance in Valtiberina and Valdichiana” project which unites Umbria and Tuscany has been signed
The new project to enhance the artistic, cultural and landscape heritage of the area was born from the agreement between the municipalities of Citerna, Castiglion Fiorentino, Monterchi and Sansepolcro. The protocol for the project “Renaissance in the Tiber Valley and Valdichiana” which unites Umbria and Tuscany: provides a unique communication and promotion system dedicated to the four municipalities, with particular reference to the Renaissance period and the exceptional flourishing of masters and masterpieces that characterized it and which still today constitutes an extraordinary identity heritage. The project idea is supported by the art critic Vittorio Sgarbi.
The project is promoted by the municipalities of Castiglion Fiorentino, Citerna, Monterchi and Sansepolcro, the production is by Maggioli Cultura e Turismo.
Renaissance masterpieces online – Bartolomeo della Gatta, Piero della Francesca, Donatello and other great masters they left capital works in an area delimited between the Valdichiana and the Valtiberina, for an itinerary of just over 40 km to be covered in an enchanting landscape context, enriched by an extraordinary food and wine offer. A true “permanent and widespread exhibition” of artistic masterpieces, the result of the propensity to produce beauty and the ability to conserve it of an entire territory. A rich collection of works open to everyone’s enjoyment, in a free itinerary that can be customized by the visitor based on their needs and expectations, which winds through churches and museums, walking along ancient streets and looking out towards unique landscapes.
The objective of the project “Renaissance in Valtiberina and Valdichiana” – The project involves the creation of a communication and promotion system which, starting from the attractions of the area, motivates the visitor to travel it and discover it. Taking into account the most up-to-date trends in the culturally based tourism market, the project involves the creation of a coordinated image of communication material and digital tools with original content and in dual languages (Italian, English), in particular: the creation of a web portal dedicated to the entire cultural circuit which will act as a digital showcase of the structures and services offered with insights, information and continuous updating, the creation of a professional photographic campaign with an emotional tone, the creation of an aerial virtual tour for the entire area and virtual tour of the sites that host the works of art. The project will be promoted through a targeted promotion and advertising campaign and a social media management activity.
The project also involves the production of significant events. The first date scheduled is one lectio magistralis by art critic Vittorio Sgarbi, which will be held on April 26th in Sansepolcro.

We are happy to carry on this project together, because it is a driving force for tourism that moves in our villages.”
The Mayor of Monterchi, Alfredo Romanelli: «Monterchi and Castiglion Fiorentino had already signed a memorandum of understanding together, “Connected Museums”. A project that today expands with “Renaissance in Valtiberina and Valdichiana” which includes Renaissance cultural promotion, territorial marketing and large-scale promotion. All this to attack increasingly ambitious markets.”
The Mayor of Sansepolcro, Fabrizio Innocenti: «Territorial marketing of our cultural heritage becomes a strategic tool. With this memorandum of understanding we are setting out to create a tourist route aimed at visitors, but it is also a path of cultural growth for our citizens”.
