Doors and drawers that were once inaccessible. Wardrobes, doors and flaps open wide to reveal the events, tastes and daily rituals of illustrious people. Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April they return “National Days of the Houses of Illustrious People”: two days dedicated to the places that preserve the memory and legacy of the “greats”.
There are three events in Cesenate. In the hilltop village of Sorrivoli (Roncofreddo)at the foot of the thousand-year-old castle, lies the House of the Hoopoethe home of Ilario Fioravanti. A new roomwhich until now has remained closed to the public, will accompany visitors to discover the artist and architect, with the inevitable visit to the botanical and artistic garden (for information and reservations, tel. 334 3651256)
TO Savignano sul Rubicone there is that of According to Casadeithe most important interpreter of Romagna folk music, creator of the “liscio” and author, among others, of “My Romagna”, still today one of the most danced and sung songs by Italians. The guided tour will only be held on Sunday (tel. 0541 945259).
Finally, in Cesenatico, on the Canal Port, among the colored houses and the sails of the moored boats, there is the home of the twilight poet Marino Moretti. For the occasion it will be possible to admire a small exhibition of bibliographical documents and documentaries on his travels (tel. 0547 79205).
The initiative is promoted byNational Association of Houses of Memory which brings together the houses (now museums) where illustrious people in every field of knowledge lived – from art to literature, from science to history – to raise awareness and enhance these significant historical homes. It is not possible, in fact, to read the immortal works of great writers, admire the paintings and sculptures of brilliant artists without knowing their history, without “meeting” its protagonists, their experiences, the strong bond with the territory.
