THE Sassi of Materaeven more beautiful, with the new LED lighting.
As the Mayor, Domenico Bennardi, explains:
“An ambitious and historic project, an investment from 20 million euroswhich provides the replacement of over 10 thousand sodium vapor lamps with LED lamps, dozens of unsafe polesand will allow us to achieve, at the end of the intervention, a energy saving of approximately 74%annual consumption reduced by more than 5,440,000 kWh and a reduction in emissions equal to 1,388 tonnes of CO2/year, the equivalent of the carbon dioxide absorbed by 16,329 field maple trees.
But it will also allow us to reduce light pollution and offer adequate and valuable light to our UNESCO heritage like the whole city.
In this last period we have concentrated more on the ancient districts to complete the Sassi, the teams will now resume operating in the rest of the city, it will still take several months to complete this energy transition work.
A beautiful synergy between the municipal technical office with our good municipal engineers, the City Green Light company, the councilor for energy transition Angelo Cotugno.
And thanks to the citizens and businesses for their patience, always necessary in periods of “transition”.
