Unique city, for Confapi Calabria “great opportunity: it will improve healthcare performance”

COSENZA – “We entrepreneurs have in our genetic code the ability to ride the changes, to seize the opportunities and to look to the future with confidence and optimism. If this were not the case, we would have no hope of being able to resist market rules, and of this, the Italian small and medium-sized enterprise is the most tangible example, representing today 80% of our country’s GDP.” The speaker is the regional president of the Con.fa.pi Health Supply Chain. Calabria, Candida Tucci.

“The merger of Cosenza Rende and Castrolibero will be a great change and therefore a great opportunity for everyone, administrators, social partners and citizens to be able to create an efficient, modern, livable and advanced urban project. “In particular, for healthcare companies in the urban area affected by the merger process, it will be an unmissable opportunity to take a step forward towards the socio-health integration of personal services through social and health planning finally unitary and homogeneous for an area of 54 municipalities”.

Cosenza Rende and Castrolibero currently belong to different socio-health districts: Cosenza goes with the Savuto District which groups together 34 municipalities, while Rende and Castrolibero goes with the Valle Crati District which groups together 20 municipalities. For welfare policies, however, Cosenza is part of Territorial Area n.1 which includes around 13 municipalities, while Rende and Castrolibero are part of Territorial Area no. 2 with approximately 9 municipalities.”

A fragmentation of programming and skills that is generating many difficulties. The merger of the three aforementioned municipalities, however, will lead to the redefinition of the geographical boundaries of the aforementioned districts and territorial areas which will result in a single socio-health and social welfare programming for all 54 municipalities falling within the geographical area of the Savuto and Valle Crati District and Territorial Areas n. 1 and n.2.

“An extraordinary result that does not escape those like us” continues Candida Tucci “who represent the sector of private providers of health and social services and who welcome into their structures citizens of the municipalities mentioned who, due to their different residences, often follow procedures different administrations. A true contradiction and, above all, for us businesses, further bureaucratic hassle!!”

“It is certainly a task for the regional institutions that will have to redefine the district structure but an undoubtedly useful investment of energy because it will produce a great advantage for the community and for the providers of services. A single social health and social welfare planning for an area of 54 municipalities will allow a more coherent reading of the needs, it will avoid the cloning of services and the duplication of interventions with optimization of costs and improvement of healthy performances.

A positive result, this, for the health paths of citizens further amplified by the (also) necessary reorganization of the pharmaceutical network also resulting from the merger of the three municipalities mentioned. Single political interlocutor, single planning, single reading of needs and consequent greater rationalization of the distribution of services across the territory. An opportunity, therefore, to overcome that fragmentation of health service programming of citizens which is and has been, historically, the main obstacle to achieving the desired social and health integration. A challenge for administrators and social partners that today the majority of stakeholders in the urban area involved in the merger process are ready to welcome with enthusiasm.
