The activity of the breast clinic of the “Don Tonino Bello” in Molfetta, belonging to the simple operational unit of departmental value of breast radiodiagnostics of the San Paolo Hospital, resumes.
The hiring of new staff and the extension of booking diaries have the aim of strengthening the offer of first-level services and reducing waiting lists.

The project
The Molfetta Hospital is one of the 11 centers that are part of the company network for scheduled screening: the functionality of the integrated 3D mammography, equipped with tomosynthesis to identify the smallest lesions, provides a detailed picture for detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, with a three-dimensional view obtained using the same dose as standard 2D acquisition.
Breast Radiodiagnostics at the San Paolo hospital is part of the Coordination of the Breast Unit, the multidisciplinary organisational-functional structure where prevention, diagnosis, therapy, rehabilitation and follow-up activities for the treatment of patients with breast pathology are carried out.
The operational unit currently carries out: level I diagnostic imaging tests (clinical examination, 2D and 3D mammography, breast and axillary ultrasound), level II diagnostic imaging tests (breast magnetic resonance imaging without and with contrast medium, mammography with contrast medium – CEM), percutaneous sampling with mammographic (2D and 3D) and ultrasound guidance, ultrasound-guided drainage of breast cysts/abscesses, pre-surgical localizations or pre-neo-adjuvant therapies.
