From 4 to 11 May the traditional celebrations in honor of the patron saint return to Asti. As per tradition, the esteem of the Palio officially opens the celebrations of San Secondo and kicks off the events of May in Asti and the paliophile year. Here is the whole program.

NIGHT-TIME PROCESSION, OATH AND ESTIMATION OF THE PALIO
9.00 pm Piazza Cattedrale – meeting of Asta, Captain’s Group, Standard Bearers, Rectors and figures
9.30pm Start of the procession – route: Piazza Cattedrale, Via Caracciolo, Via Carducci, Via Giobert, Corso Alfieri, Via Gobetti, Piazza San Secondo
10.00 pm Start of the Oath Ceremony, followed by the Estimate of the Palio
11.00pm Conclusion of the Palio Estimate
In case of bad weather, the Oath and Estimation ceremonies of the Palio will take place at the Alfieri Theater at 9.15 pm and the night procession will not take place.

Performance of flag-wavers and “budding” musicians
The initiative, organized by the College of Rectors, is preceded by the procession of musicians and flag-wavers starting from Piazza Roma at 2.30 pm
In case of bad weather, the Flag Waving of the Saint will take place on Tuesday 7 May at 6pm.

In case of persistent bad weather even on Sunday, the competition will take place at the PalaBrumar San Quirico.
