The new 100 Gbps connections are active between the Lepida Datacenters, specifically between DC-PR and DC-MO, DC-MO and DC-FE, and finally between DC-FE and DC-RA. The connections created were designed in addition to the native ones and set up on the Lepida Network with the specific objective of guaranteeing the least possible intersection with the current routes to ensure greater resilience on the Lepida Network in the face of possible faults or damage.
The rights to use fiber optics
Precisely with this objective, in June the Lepida Board of Directors adopted a resolution with which it made known the need to identify TLC Operators from which it can acquire rights of use on optical fiber in IRU mode. In order to create, manage and supply an Ultra Broadband telecommunications network, Open Fiber has been identified as an operator capable of providing what is requested. During the second part of the year Open Fiber and Lepida collaborated to design and create the required connections. The service provided is a point-to-point transport with a single dedicated circuit in Otn technology for the transport of traffic between the Lepida Datacentres, with a 100 Gbps bandwidth profile including the creation of urban queues aimed at bringing the connection within the physical locations of the Datacenters.
Service
This service provides, as mentioned, differentiated routes that are as orthogonal as possible to the pre-existing Lepida Network currently used for Datacenter connections, with the minimization of the crushing of the new routes on the Transport Network. With this new creation, the resilience of the connections between Datacenters can count on an additional high-speed connection, with a high level of reliability, for the benefit of the services offered to the Member Bodies. The circuits are already active and configured as backup to the network created by Lepida. The fourth radio route for the four data centers is nearing completion.
