Hera: a hub for the recycling of rigid plastics in Modena

(ANSA) – MODENA, MARCH 29 – Hera announces the birth of ‘Aliplast’ in Modena, which aims to be one of the “most innovative” plants in Europe in the recycling of rigid plastic materials.

The multi-utility project, for a total investment of 50 million (of which 7.7 are financed with Pnrr funds), will make it possible to obtain, starting from plastic waste that was previously difficult to recycle, high quality polymers (30 thousand tons of recycled polymers per year) with performances similar to those guaranteed by virgin materials.

The goal is to make sectors such as consumer electronics and automotive increasingly sustainable.

The works for the construction of the system have already started in recent days within the Modena hub in via Cavazza.

“We are proud to present this project which, in addition to strengthening our plant park, will give a further boost to the important contribution that the Hera group has been providing to the Italian recycling industry for years – explains Orazio Iacono, CEO of the Hera Group – This plant will be a driving force for achieving the objectives of resource circularity, especially in sectors such as the consumer electronics and automotive industries, also with the aim of promoting increasingly circular and short Italian supply chains”.

“We give further concreteness to the theme of sustainability and ecological transition which is characterizing our commitment to urban planning and environmental choices – explained the mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli – and we provide the territory with new employment opportunities and a tool to support the economy circular”.
