Edoardo Galli, the missing boy found in the station in Milan

Edoardo Galli, the sixteen-year-old who disappeared last March 21 from Colico in the Lecco area, has been found in Milan. Around 7.45 today a couple of travelers recognized him at the Central station while the young man was buying a ticket to return home.

Whoever recognized Edoardo, whose photo had gone viral in the last week, notified the FS security staff who, in turn, requested the intervention of the Railway Police. The officers approached the boy who immediately admitted that he was the sixteen-year-old and that he was in good condition.

In the main station of the Lombard capital, Edoardo had already passed the day of his disappearance, which was still considered by the Lecco carabinieri and the local authorities issued a voluntary removal. It was the airport’s surveillance cameras that filmed him wandering around with a backpack and two drawing folders. First on the platform where the train from Morbegno arrived around 9.45am and then at the exit of the security turnstiles. The investigators’ checks now aim to clarify where Edoardo spent these eight days and with whom. From the first information in Milan he was only in transit.

On March 21st Edoardo, instead of going to high school, which he had always attended successfully until now, headed by train towards Milan. In the last few hours there have been new appeals from the family. The grandparents’ fear is that “he ended up in something bigger than himself and that someone doesn’t take into account that he is a minor. Maybe he entrusted himself to someone he trusts but this isn’t the case. We await you with open arms.” Family, relatives and friends agree in saying that there had been no clear signs of intolerance, such as to suggest an estrangement. Academic performance was also good. The teachers and the principal confirmed this.
