Thanks to the recent regional tender for the Revitalization and Repopulation of Historic Centers in the areas affected by the earthquake, the Municipality of Ferrara was designated the recipient of substantial funding amounting to a total of 700,000 euros. This funding aims to accelerate recovery and encourage economic and social activity in areas affected by the natural disaster.

In particular, the Department led by Angela Travagli, responsible for the Personnel, Work, Productive Activities, Heritage, Fairs and Markets areas, and the Department led by Matteo Fornasini, responsible for Budget and Accounting, Shareholdings, Commerce and Tourism, will coordinate the allocation of funds for recovery and development projects.

“Thanks to a virtuous dialogue with the Region, the Municipality of Ferrara, initially excluded, was also included in the plan. Ferrara, in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Region, is preparing to welcome an important opportunity for the recovery and rebirth of its precious historic centers and surrounding areas, hit by the 2012 earthquake. These loans will benefit all commercial activities and public businesses both in the city center and in the surrounding areas and will be aimed at redeveloping existing businesses and supporting the opening of new businesses”, explains councilor Matteo Fornasini.

“With this announcement, an important opportunity is reopened for productive activities located throughout the territory, including hamlets, for professionals and associations, a useful comfort for the competitive economic development of the city”, adds councilor Angela Travagli.

The funds will be allocated to targeted projects that include new settlements, redevelopment, modernization and/or expansion of commercial and cultural activities that attract interest and influx of people to the areas involved.

The beneficiaries of these funds include micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), associations, non-profit organizations and foundations, as well as freelancers, exclusively for interventions aimed at the redevelopment, modernization of existing local units and to the opening/establishment of new local units.

The maximum contribution per project cannot exceed 100,000 euros and the project itself must have a minimum amount of 20,000 euros (excluding VAT). The interventions can be started from the date of submission of the application and must be completed by 30 June 2025, unless authorized extensions.

The window for the first 40 applications is subject to early closing. These applications can be submitted exclusively through the SFINGE 2020 platform, open from 5 April to 9 May.
