“In viale della Libertà, in the stretch between via Giuseppe Pipitone Federico and via Gioacchino di Marzo, due to some work in progress, the pavement was closed to pedestrians as was the roadway reserved for public transport. However, the company that is carrying out the intervention has not provided any protected passage for those passing by on foot, who therefore find themselves forced to use the road with the great risk of being hit by vehicles, which in that stretch of Via Libertà do not they skimp on speed. If no one has died so far, the credit is entirely due to his luck and benevolence, but this situation may not last long. To avoid the risk of having to mourn yet another death on the road, I asked Councilor Orlando and the Road Maintenance Service to restore the safety conditions for pedestrians, starting with the creation of an opening where they can walk without the risk of ending up under a car or, worse, a bus or heavy vehicle. Furthermore, I asked the municipal police commander to verify whether the current conditions of the construction site comply with the laws in force, which provide a safe passage for pedestrians to pass through”.
